This summer, Avaya introduced IP Office 8.1, an updated version of its unified communication (UC) software, which integrates real-time communication services like instant messaging, video conferencing, data sharing, and more. The newly-released software has the capability to bring to small enterprises UC features that are normally relegated exclusively to large markets.
The new version of the Avaya software has been expanded to include the following features: platform scaling that allows as many as 1,000 users per site (previously only 384), management tools that streamline oversight of UC platforms at multiple sites from one console, and support for the Flare Communication tool, which allows the software to be accessed from smart phones and tablets.
Available in two forms, IP Office 8.1 offers flexibility for customers when it comes to selecting the makeup of their software. The server edition uses gateways that allow standard servers to support UC tools, meaning that Avaya propriety hardware isn’t needed. The alternate version does, however, use Avaya hardware, thereby eliminating the need for gateways – should that be a desire of the customer. The software also offers enhanced security with support for Avaya’s session border control.
Accessible through a cloud-based service that starts at $19 a month, IP Office 8.1 is equipped to allow users to download soft clients that will run the UC platform in the cloud network, thereby nixing the need to install the software on a business’ personal infrastructure.
The strongest software available for small to mid-market companies, Avaya’s IP Office software makes it possible for employees to “Bring their own Device” (BYOD) to work, and offers advanced mobility. It streamlines communication while offering superior security and management tools for its users.
