While wireless technology is convenient, it lacks many of the benefits of wired connections.
A lot of people in the younger generation have not heard of an ethernet cable. Furthermore, even less know that you can use one to connect to the internet. Why bother with a cable when you can connect to a wifi network? After all, wifi networks are all over the place.
While it is true that ethernet technology is a little dated, there are still a lot of benefits to wired networks that you often can’t find with wifi. Here are a few below.
Easier Setup and Connection
It is often hit or miss when it comes to connecting to a new wireless network; changing standards for network encryption are frequently frustrating. Worse still, when you have to troubleshoot, wireless networks often don’t want to talk to our devices.
Reliability
For the most part, wired networks only go down is if the entire building loses power. On the other hand, wireless networks often have many issues with being reliable. For example, when you attempt to access a wireless network at the edge of its range, you are liable to fail miserably. Worse, sometimes the walls in your office can prevent you from connecting successfully.
Speed
When you are in the office, nothing can be more frustrating than waiting around for a download bar to finish. On the other hand, most ethernet connections boast speeds of 1 Gigabit per second. Compared to wifi, that is three times faster.
We are certainly not saying that Wifi is terrible technology; you certainly don’t want to have to rely one hundred percent on an ethernet cable following you everywhere you go. Just remember that there are many benefits to a wired network and how they can save you a lot of frustrations in the office place.
