Nearly all companies use a Business Phone System. In fact, customers expect to call into a business line as opposed to a cell phone. This is so much the norm, that even if you have a Business Phone System, if it is outdated and lacking in features, you need to start considering upgrading it. One of the things you need to consider when purchasing a new system is how many phone lines your business requires. Here’s how to arrive at that number:
Amount of Phones
Many businesses choose to rely on physical phones for the Business Phone System. Figuring out how many phones you’ll need will directly relate to the amount of phone lines you’ll require. For most companies, this number will depend on the number of employees you have. How many employees do you have and what are their duties? Does each team member need a phone or, for example, does only the sales team members require individual phones? This will often depend on your line of work. If your company deals mainly in support, it is extremely likely that each and every employee will need their own phone. This is important to figure out, as the more phones you have, the more lines you require.
Amount of Calls
One of the most important things to determine is how many calls you’ll make at once. Not figuring this out ahead of time may lead to you going over your capacity and experiencing technical issues. It is different for every company, so it is important to review your call logs with your provider before installing anything.
Phone Numbers
How big is your company? Do you have multiple offices? If so, you’ll have to consider having different phone numbers for each building. This can also prove to be true even if you have one building. It is entirely up to you, but it is a decision you’ll have to make.
